Katie Jay Is Featured in The National Enquirer, April 3, 2006

Here's an excerpt of the article:

I'm Half the Size I Was!

As I collapsed into the extra-large wheelchair specially ordered for me at Disney World, I felt a wave of humiliation and disgust. Sure, it was a relief that I didn't have to walk around the theme park, because, at 331lbs, every step was agony. But at the same time, I felt so angry at myself for letting this happen. Would wheelchairs be my future?...In the fall of 2004, I realized I felt so passionate about the choice to have surgery that I wanted to encourage others to understand it too....I set up an organization called the National Association of Weight Loss Surgery to do this, and now employ three part-time staffers. We give people information about the different surgical options, while also making sure they realize that it's not a quick-fix cure -- you need to work hard emotionally to understand why you turned to food in the first place and learn that food doesn't provide all the answers. -- As told to Carole Beck, The National Enquirer, April 3, 2006
