If you're like me, when you first scheduled your weight loss surgery, you didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the strings attached.
You probably focused on the knowledge that shortly after the surgery, your life would be radically different -- forever. And that gave you hope. Something you had not experienced in a long time. Deep down you understood that weight loss surgery alone would not be enough to combat your genetics and a lifetime's worth of emotional eating, food addiction, and excess weight -- but you had to start somewhere, right?
Months or years later, your weight loss experience changed and the fear of weight regain set in. Maybe you hit a plateau. Maybe your hunger came back with a vengeance. Maybe you started to regain weight, and the slippery slope that comes with that has turned your hope into fear. Maybe you struggle with carbohydrate or sugar sensitivity.
One thing is certain, there are predictable stages nearly all weight loss surgery patients go through. And knowing them can help you navigate the challenges much more effectively. Life can feel especially chaotic when you don't feel clear about how you're going to develop the mindset and skills you nee to stay true to you -- and then do it.
Challenging jobs, children, elderly parents, household chores -- and more -- continually pull you in opposing directions. That means by the time you put yourself on the caretaking list you're too exhausted or depressed (or both) to really take care of yourself. Wouldn't it be great to know the easiest and most effective strategies to use so that you can stay on track with your WLS program?
I have done all the research for you and I'm going to be sharing it at my 3 upcoming NAWLS Renewal Retreats in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

What is a NAWLS Renewal Retreat?
A NAWLS Renewal Retreat is a SMALL, intimate retreat (only 11 people this spring -- tops!) for women who have had weight loss surgery of any kind. If you are feeling challenged by the demands of the WLS lifestyle, this Renewal Retreat is for you!
This retreat will be facilitated by me, Katie Jay, MSW, Director, National Association for Weight Loss Surgery, and will include a multitude of information and activities designed to help you create a healthier happier you.
Your weekend will be a time of introspection and an opportunity to begin a new transformation. Be prepared to laugh, learn, and connect with kindred spirits; let go of old beliefs; and develop a concrete plan of action you can take with you when you go home -- along with the support of the new friends you have made.
Virginia Beach is a tranquil and beautiful ocean-front setting that calms body and soul; and it is the perfect place to get away from the world's demands -- so you can focus on YOU.
Where and when will this event take place?
The Spring retreats will take place April 28-May 1, 2011, May 1-4, 2011, OR register for the double header and attend April 28-May 4, 2011. Each retreat gathers for a 3-day period in a beautiful, tranquil setting.
You will LOVE the home I've found for these retreats! Not only will we have the beach at our doorstep, we'll also have a large, private hot tub!
What does registration include?
Registration includes:
• Three nights in a beautiful, tranquil setting.
• Eight (8) WLS-friendly meals, plus optional snacks.
• Workshops, small-group discussions, trust-building activities, time for directed introspection, journaling, guided imagery, coaching, swimming, walking on the beach, and more.
• All retreat materials including a workbook and reference materials.
And there are bonuses, too!
• Two Jump-start Retreat Teleseminars. Only registered retreat participants may attend these teleseminars, hosted by me, to help you get a jump start on your retreat experience. You will have a chance to get to know other participants and arrive at the retreat with friendships already underway. ($118 value) Please note: You will be responsible for the long-distance charges for the calls.
• For the May 1-4, 2011 retreat ONLY: receive an extra night's stay FREE*, after the retreat is over. That's right! You may stay one more day at the end of the retreat to enjoy the beach and relax with some free time just for you! ($159 value) (Keep in mind, you'll need to purchase your own meals once the retreat ends. But we often have leftovers!)
*For the April 28-May 1, 2011 retreat, participants will receive a complimentary 30-minute follow-up coaching call with Katie Jay after you've returned home. This is a great way to help you implement what you learn at the retreat.
