Recognized as a leading spokesperson for WLS, she is an inspiring speaker and prolific writer. Katie founded NAWLS to support the long-term success of people committed to WLS not only as a way to reshape their bodies, but as a starting point for shaping better lives. Katie earned her Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She earned her undergraduate degree in Writing from George Mason University, where she competed on the forensics team, winning several speaking awards. She also draws on years of corporate experience from her "first career" as a business writer and editor. Katie lives in northern Virginia with her husband and son.
